Performance notes

Following our performance of Eric Andersens Opera Instruction, eight of us met at Maggie Joness to eat dinner and plan a concert trip to Stoke-on-Trent for next week.

Before dinner, we performed Danger Music Number Fifteen.

For this performance, each of us brought a slab of butter, a box of eggs, and a small cardboard gift box. Each of us placed the butter in our box, then broke the eggs into the box as we worked with them. We worked with the butter and eggs for about twenty minutes as we talked. Then, each of us smoothed off the composition in the box.

After washing our hands, we returned to the table to compare boxes. Five of us had made flat beds with roughly smooth surfaces. One person had attempted to make an object that sat in the box. Two of us placed the mass in a corner of the box, resembling Joseph Beuys Fat Corner. Some of the boxes were quite messy inside. Others were neat.

After displaying the boxes to one another, we sealed the boxes up and left them next to the table while we ate. When we left the restaurant, we left one box on the table with money for the waiter. We gave another box to a young couple at another table. We handed other boxes out to people we passed on the street as we returned to the tube station.
