in this sense Mail Art may be a freer arena than Fluxus--in that a Mail Artist can be anyone, entering into it immiadately at any point--
i myself am but slowly learning the history of Fluxus--through books and this group--I do think it is important to understand the historical moments of Fluxus--through time--and various ever shifting contexts--i do the same with Mail Art--

I had a great response and then got disconnected!WAHHH Anyway -- fluxus is plenty free if you see it that way- perhaps reading the history of fluxus has made you feel that it is not-since there isnt quite the same documentation of mail art. You know if you read the history you will see that those early artists were fallible:elitist and judgmental. Fluxus is nothing and everything and that is what appeals to me-its just us doing stuff right now--if the historians can pin it down to something let them but it doesnt concern me and my art. Dawg
