Thank you to all for a very interesting discussion, regarding fluxus & time--as the very name implies, flux in and as and with and through time--

an ongoing process--

since i grew up in the Sixties, was aware of fluxus--happenings--what got me inolved with fluxlist was Mail Art, whose history and many of the ideas, are in confluence with those of Fluxus--Mail Art is literally a free exchange of works, ideas, messages, presences--(except when you have to pay for the postage!)--that is, there is a theme a size a deadline--and no jury--no sales--none of the art world trappings--in this sense Mail Art may be a freer arena than Fluxus--in that a Mail Artist can be anyone, entering into it immiadately at any point--

i myself am but slowly learning the history of Fluxus--through books and this group--I do think it is important to understand the historical moments of Fluxus--through time--and various ever shifting contexts--i do the same with Mail Art--

both Fluxus and Mail Art do have an emphasis on the ephemeral--which can be made precious in a sense, when limited-(collector's item/collectiove making, sharing--)-or made into a public event, as the Mail Art Hit Parade at the Havana Bienal a few years ago--directed by Clemente Padin and which helped with--

i think much of the interest in the ephermeral/enduring comes from Baudelaire's definition of modernism in his book on the painter C. Guys--THE PAINTER OF MODERN LIFE--wherein modernity is the conjunction of the epHemeral and the eternal--a GLIMPSED FRAGMENT, A PASSING HEM, THESE BECOME MOMENTS THAT ARE ENDURING THROUGH THEIR CONJUNCTION WITH A RECOGnITION, A PASSING ON--(OOPS, SORRY FOR ACCIDENTAL CAPS--)--notation as a taking note--the conjunction of the visual/verbal/sonic event--the score, visual poetry, Mail Art--

with Fluxus scores, texts, images, incitements, examples--i think to keep in mind not just that these are historical, originary moments--but that they are meant to be continually performed, reinterpreted, translated, variations--mutations--not to supercede the originary score/moment--but to grow from it, like Deleuze's rhizomes--

and with history--of course, it has STORY in it--i read a lot of the history with great pleasure, it is indeed a story--and one  may join in, learning from the history, and finding ways to continue it onwo/;/ards--it is in open/ever Flux--(and make friends--with the originary members--so to speak!through bios letters notes etc, recordings, images--and the presnet--fellow participants--)

of course this is my interpretation so far--with more study--it may change as one becomes more aware of what the toolkit of ideas examples is to work with--

that Fluxus is ongoing (and much aware of roots, rhiozmatic plantings--)--is this list, with the many projects to pariticpate in--in all various media--from Mail Art to multi media, to score/performances, CDs, books, boxes--performances--exhibitions--annouocnements--queries, sharings of information--

to me that is a vivid sign that Fluxus is ongoing--

besides it is always of interest to the child to know not just where it came from--those huge figures looming and lumbering about--but where did THEY cam from?--it is a natural question--how did this start? who started it? why? what can i do with it!

like looking at cave paintings, petroglyphs--they have eedured through time--the meaning may be lost to us--but the MESSAGE is there, exists, and one experiences THE SHOCK OF RECOGNITION--

in the study of rock art--there is a very interesting and useful term--taphonomy--the study of things in their present state--

and one --wd like to respond--to acknowledge, gives thanks for the rythm that is ongoing--
