Yes it will compile after doing this.  However, I was more trying to
alert you all to deprecation and trying to maybe move this stuff
forward in fluxus.
do you think that libpng 1.4 is available now everywhere? i'm afraid if 
we move forward to get rid of the deprecation notices, we might break 
the code on other distros or platforms.
i filed a bug report for this on our savannah page, though.
