I already spoke with Chris B and Mario and both of them knew of some
local sources. Another factor that we didn't discuss is mics. There
are different types of mics that require different amplifiers and aren't
always interchangeable. That's why I wasn't able to go to my online
sources for prices because I'm unsure of what type we need. Not sure if
Chris and/or Mario know that information. I have some musicians and
sound people I can ask but it's unlikely I'll be able to have an answer
and have time to act on it between now and the shows.
What I would suggest is get the XLR and 1/4 in cables where ever we can
locally ASAP. We have one maybe two mics that work. Blaise said some of
the bands on the Friday show could bring their own mics. That only
leaves the Thursday show and I think they said one mic would be
sufficient. Can we check with someone on that? (Chris B are you the
point person for this one?)
Once we determine what type of mics we need we can look around for the
best price including online.

I can ask Chris B if he knows anyone or anywhere. That is it we
haven't asked him already

Is this something we could get at guitar center in Henrietta?

I just got a message from Mario and he will not be able to
loan us mics and cables for the upcoming show. I've also
been informed that we have a budget for new equipment. We
just need consensus on what to get and local sources on where
to get it. I'm not familiar with any place that sells this
sort of equipment locally and we won't have it in time for
the shows if we order it online. I believe Chris B and Mario
know of local places. I also don't know what type of mics we
need. Chris, Mario?
Blaise (the promoter of the Friday show) said he could bring
some cables for his show but doesn't have any mics.

Thank you for your patience I just got out of a dinner. I
think we might want to have a call with Chris S and Ted
about this tomorrow. We can send an invite out to the rest
of the collective. My assumption is everyone would be ok
spending what it takes to have a good sounds system since we
use it regularly for events. But we'll have to see what
everyone thinks.

Do we want to get just the minimum we need to get it
functional or do we want to get everything I mentioned?
I know where I can order the stuff but it's not Amazon
and it won't be here in time for the shows. Chris B and
Mario knew of some local places I was unaware of.
Another issue is how much do we want to spend?

Thank you for the heads up Al. I will not have the
availability to pick up the equipment but I am in favor
of someone picking up the equipment and getting
reimbursed.

First off, when we got there I found the door to
the sound room unlocked and blocked from closing
because of junk being stored there. The cleaning
supplies have been moved downstairs (there are
already redundant supplies upstairs). The party
decorations which still looked good are behind the
bar. The string lights have been thrown out. Some
very dangerous "repairs" had been made to them
which could cause a shock or fire. Only 3 or 4
people (myself, Chris S, Ted and I think Bob Good)
have keys to this room and it should not be used to
store anything besides sound equipment.
First the bad news
The system as it is is not functional for a show
because all of our long XLR (mic to amp) cables are
gone. In addition one of the long 1/4 inch 2
channel cables (amp to speakers) is gone and the
remaining one is in very poor shape. There is only
one short 1/4 inch cable (amp to mixing board)
there should be 2. This can be improvised using a
longer 1/4 inch cable but the one we have is not
that good. We have one working mic, one mic that
might work (couldn't test properly due to lack of
reliable XLR cables) and three mics that are dead.
One intact mic stand, one stand with a broken mic
holder, and the boom mic stand looks to be in
working order.
The good news
Mario says he might have some cables he could loan
us for the two upcoming shows. But he won't have
access to where they are until Monday.
The powered monitor speaker appears to be OK.
Suspect tinny sound was due to poor cable or mic.
Again a thorough test was not possible due to lack
of a known good XLR cable.
*OK so here is what we must have in order to have a
working sound system by Thursday*
*2 25-50 foot XLR cables*
*1 25-50 foot 1/4 inch 2 channel cable*
In addition here is what we should get to keep the
system functional for the future
An additional 25-50 foot 1/4 inch 2 channel cable
2 1-3 foot 1/4 inch 2 channel cables (mixer to amp)
1 or 2 additional mics
spare XLR cable
