Heres one way to do this that I've done with ESRI shapefile.
To your source dataset (lines) add ATTRIBUTECREATOR and add
attribute say TEMP and set to 1.
Use a BUFFERER and set the "groupby" to the attribute created above
eg TEMP.
Write to a destination format of polygon ... should do the trick.
