I am using the Buffer whish does give me areas then the Dissolver.  
The Dissolver removes almost all my features.  I'll try playing with 
the DonutBuilder and see what I come up with.  I've seen reference to 
a "PolygonDissolveFactory" and I believe this is the transformer I've 
been looking for, but I don't have it in my transformer list.
