[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Yes :) Floating license management is fairly
flexible. Have a look at the Macrovision guide: http://www.macrovision.com/services/support/flexlm/enduser.pdf (the version that Safe distributes is
older than this guide, not all features may be supported) Basically, you just have to set up a
safe.opt file in the same directory as your license file and then add
directives like the following. IP addresses can be used anywhere a host
name can be used. I use this to ensure that my production server always
has a license for its critical nightly batch jobs. # General Settings # Time out idle licenses after 12 hours # Set up Licence Allocations # Set Dedicated Network Licences groups # Reserve the dedicated licences Jason From:
[email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bryan Waller Hello Group, Here is a question that seems kind of silly at first. Is it possible to assign floating licenses to certain users
within a network? (I know, it sounds like a static license, doesn’t it?) We have a small group of GIS people who use FME for large
parts of the day and a large group of non-GIS people using a small application
with FME integrated into it. I need to ensure that the GIS professionals
always have access to an FME license or two and everyone else only has access
to 1 license at any one time. Can the licenses be assigned to banks of IP
addresses or will I have to build something into the non-GIS professional
application that checks to see if anyone else is using a license. Kind of confusing, but does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks in advance. Bryan Waller, GIS Data
