I've successfully managed to replace
< with !#lt;
and
& with !#amp;
but trying to replace
< with &#lt;
fails with -- missing close-brace. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to
quote or escape the ampersand when it's the second of the pair; it
seems to work OK if it's the first of the pair.
