Yes Hans,
I was thinking they'd be simple but repetative tasks. The first one
(attached) creates two sets of features (100,000 in each set) and
carries out a match (Matcher) based on a random number.

As I said it took about 25 minutes on my PC, and 13 in the training
room. I guess I should just work in the training room and get twice as
much done! I'll also try it on our 64-bit machine to see the effect.

Subject: [fme] Re: optimal set up for a FME processing PC

Hi Geoff,
A timely question. One thing I am thinking of doing is creating a small
set of basic workspaces that folk can use to benchmark FME on their PC.
If we get a good number of results it'll be easy to see just how much
better the higher options are and to gauge how good your setup is.

eg - my first workspace takes 25' 02" on my 1.6Ghz/512mb PC, whereas the
ones in the training room (2.8ghz, 1gb) take 13' 20".

Keep an eye on fmepedia.com for when I get time to do this (maybe early
next week).
