Anne,

Could you provide more details?  What type of geometry are you expecting 
on exit?  It is worth nothing that different formats use different words 
to indicate the same geometry.  A polyline in a SHAPE file may be 
represented by a line in your outgoing format.

If you load up the output geometry and the input geometry in a viewer, 
can you tell that they are different?
