Vancouver, B.C. â" July 6, 2006 â" Safe Software Inc., a world leader in
the development of interoperability solutions for the exchange and
transformation of spatial data, today announced the release of
SpatialDirect® 2006 GB. With Safe Softwareâs proven Feature
Manipulation Engine (FME®) capability at its core, SpatialDirect
delivers spatial data over the web in many of the over 160 formats
supported by the underlying FME servers. SpatialDirect also includes a
Web Feature Service (WFS) Server and Internationalization (I18N) support.
SpatialDirect 2006 GB adds numerous important enhancements to
SpatialDirect 2006 which was released in February. FME Workbench can
now be used to configure SpatialDirect, allowing greater control of
complex data transformations, and the new FME 2006 GB Server included
in SpatialDirect 2006 GB provides improved raster support.
Formats supported for the first time include GML Simple Feature Level
0 and beta support for ESRI® File-based Geodatabase for ArcGIS 9.2
users. Distribution of GE® Smallworld⢠data is now supported through
the SpatialBiz third-party plug-in available from Spatial Business
Systems of Denver, Colorado.
âThis latest release of SpatialDirect represents a new level of
maturity for the product,â said Kieran Jones, Enterprise Solutions
Developer at Safe Software. âWeâre excited to be offering its enhanced
capabilities and functionality to our customers.â

More About FME
FME is an integrated collection of Spatial ETL (Extract, Transform,
and Load) tools for the distribution and transformation of
location-based data. FME manages database loading, data extraction
from legacy systems, merging multiple data sources, coordinate system
conversion, and format to format translation for the exchange of map
data. FME consists of four major components: a translation engine (FME
Universal Translator), a graphical authoring environment (FME
Workbench), a data inspection tool (FME Viewer), and application
extenders that directly integrate into a variety of spatial
applications. Visit www.safe.com for more information.
