I'd also point out that the way we deal with Excel files changed from
FME 2006 to FME 2006 GB -- in the latter we use Microsoft ADO
technology which we found to be MUCH more reliable than the old ODBC
approach we used in FME 2006. My hunch is that if you try FME 2006 GB,
all will be well.
