Hi
I'm working on a project where I want to find natural reservations and
other protected areas within a distance (200m) from public roads. I'm
using a buffer and clipper to identify the part of the areas that lies
within the given distance. My next step is to calculate the potential
conflict based on the kind of protected area and the shortest distance
from the road. To do this, I need to find the distance from the closest
vertex in the protected area to the road.
And here's my problem: If I use the NEIGHBOURFINDER with the roads as
the base and the areas as candidates, the _distance attribute is
correct (for instance 88m). But if I use the areas as base, and the
roads as candidates, the _distance attribute gets a totaly different
value (0.03m), even though it's the same objects that are identified as
neighbours.
Of course, I can solve my problem by using the first approach, which
gives me the correct result. But does anyone have an explanation to why
I get different ressults?
Thanks in advance,

Knut Jetlund
