thanks for your help.
Yes the attributes are supplied as a list with a 1:M join.
I have used a list exploder as suggested and I can now make a 
connection from the meterno{}list to the destination tab file. 
However, the tab file still does not display meterno attributes 
(visible in FME Viewer though). I have made sure the attributes in 
the destination file are correctly defined.

In addition, is it posible not to get a seperate feature per value? 
Where there are many meter numbers per source polygon the 
destination tab file contains multiple polygons to match. I have 
used an Aggregator before the joins with little effect.
