Problem: Some external data producers are sending us road data where they have unioned the road polygons together, creating lots of donuts between the roads (and polygons with 15000 or so verticies - ick). The viewer application (based on Oracle Spatial data) does not currently handle voids (donuts), so the road fill flows into the voids, causing the map to look bad.
Q: What might others suggest to "de-donut" the data?
I have been looking at the manual and it looks like some combination of
Intersector and AreaBuilder might do the trick to turn the monster polygon back
into a semblance of individual road segment polygons.
Thanks in advance...
Bryan
