Arnold; I don't see why a regular subsummary report wouldn't work. Create a summary field _cSumCount = Count of SerialNumber. Or you can make it count any field you know will always contain a value. Make a subsummary report, sorted by the field you want to summarize by, and put _cSumCount in the subsummary part.
