Yes, granted, but I've never seen used Mac prices be totally rational.
I just figured that cube prices would stay higher for quite a while.
Hmmm, might have to get one though, there were cool looking machines,
and could still be a nice little media server at home.

Seems to have been a substantial drop in their price with the

as a
collectors' item, their utility is pretty much marginalized by the
mini, I
would think. After all, they have slow usb and firewire, are prone to
developing cracks in the case, are not very expandable, and
accelerators
seem likely to be problematic because of the heat issue.

Yes, it was a nice link ... and nice feedback from Damian as well.
Thankee
guys.
I took a little trip from one of the links at the mundy site, came
to a
reseller of pre-owned Macs, and noted that the price of used cubes
has
come
down considerably. Now, in the "system requirements" part of the FM
site, a
minimum of 500 mhz G4 is called for when web serving. I wonder,
would
450
mhz really kill the deal? I can put a much faster hard drive into a
cube,
with plenty of cache and 3/4 gig of ram, and still be considerably
ahead in
terms of raw bucks as compared to a mini. But I wonder if the
processor
speed is really a killer issue.

I think it is up for it. Here is a great blog from a guy who tells
you how
to do LOTS of cool server type things with the mini:

Good stuff, Chris. Nice read.
Since that is part two of an article, perhaps the TOC link will be
of
interest regarding Mini's:
