There IS a GPO for lockout... the Internet Explorer screensaver timeout, configurable through GPO.

But instead of leaving the computers on to do WSUS updates, I ask my co-workers to Install Updates and Shut Down. I also have the Bios wake the computers on weekdays at 6am to run a virus scan before everyone comes into work. People like that feature because they just wiggle the mouse and log in. It saves a bit on time. Question: Is there a GPO that will force computers to lock the screen if the computer is inactive for more than 30 minutes? Has anyone successfully had Power Saving modes work well? Eg. Hibernation, or Standy Mode. I have had both set on my computer at home and work and it's never gone into standby mode or hibernation automatically. I find it odd. Only on laptops has it worked really well. Modern PCs use more power and can handle startup and shutdown better than they used but having pcs shutdown at night would prevent the ability to run updates when users don't need them. It's been my policy to have users Lock computers when leaving for lunch Restart when leaving for the for the day Shutdown for the weekend. I'm curious what others are doing.
