MG: Sounds like what I would have been finding out by trial-and-error :-) ...
The aluminium pieces are 25 mm wide (one inch). So, plenty of space for a
narrower coaming.
RH: I would not cut the originals just yet, but replace them with plywood or
aluminium pieces sarting at the same dimensions. Then trim them 5 mm at a
time off the ID ... just like your dry suit neck gasket ... :-)
