Meeting of the HelpNet Steering Committee:
         When: Thursday, August 16, Noon - 1:30pm
Where: Peace and Justice Center of Eastern Maine, 170 Park St., Bangor

Anyone who is a member of HelpNet (individual or organizational) can be
part of the Steering Committee -- current members are Judy Guay, Paul
Schroeder, Ilze Petersons, and me. HelpNet has been expanding, and I hope
we can expand this group as well.

Pine Tree Folk School established and is sponsoring the HelpNet project --
perhaps "incubating" is a better word for the relationship. While PTFS is
willing to continue to provide administrative support, HelpNet is a venture
in collaboration, and its members should determine what we do. Perhaps
HelpNet can eventually become a completely free-standing organization,
independent of PTFS -- that will be up to you.

For now, I hope the Steering Committee can provide direction in 2 areas:
         (1) Programs and Services -- What sorts of training, workshops,
resource materials, and individual consultations can best meet our members'
needs?
         (2) Finances -- What fee schedules are appropriate, are there ways
to supplement this income, etc?

The Steering Committee has not met for some time, but I'm thinking that we
might want to start meeting every 2 months. If you're interested and want
to find out more, contact me. I hope to see a bunch of you on the 16th.

Jon
