Cynthia- The Windows defrag program will restart every time there is a disk write, which can become a real pain. I doubt there is anything wrong with your computer -- just normal (!!!) behavior. I've found that sometimes the only way to get defrag to work is to open the task manager (Crtl + Alt + Del), and close everything except Explorer and Systray. Hpefully this will shut down whatever is trying to write to the hard drive. After you do this, don't be surprised if your computer hangs on shutdown -- It hink Norton AV gets unhappy when you close its components this way.
