Does anyone know how to set Norton antivirus to scan e-mails in more than
one program? I use BOTH Outlook Express and Outlook 98 on both computers
(this keeps my work e-mail and my personal e-mail totally separate). The
e-mail window in Norton looks like it's set up to accommodate more than one
program (there is a lot of white space under the one that is listed and
checked), but I can find no way to add one. Both computers list only the
program that I use as my "default e-mail client", which happens to be
Outlook Express on both computers.

I think this is critical because I just did a scan and found out that I had
the badtrans virus! This in spite of the fact that I update my virus
definitions at LEAST once a week (I have it set to tell me when there are
updates and I always update as soon as it alerts me to, which it does
often). I have not opened any attachments, but I did receive an e-mail two
days ago which crashed my e-mail program every time I tried to open it (it
did not have any attachments, and it did not set off any Norton alarms - it
just crashed the e-mail program and it wouldn't run again until I restarted
the computer. I also had the same delete problems that Jane did with hers
but successfully deleted it from both the inbox and the deleted items folder
using the technique Ralph recommended).

I am now resorting to turning off the preview panes, something I didn't
think I'd need to do with the level of protection I'm maintaining.

Any suggestions on the e-mail scan would be appreciated.
