It's a good thing I spent those 6 years in the zendo or I'd by now be
dividing the world into good and evil.
Ahem - in a moment of non-pointedness of mind (5 p.m., going home, opening
a message from a person I trusted - whose only complicity was being a user
of Outlook and having me in the address book) I became a victim of
goner.ter (new extension for terrorist use only), and devoted 4 hours of my
life to fixing this. Unfortunately, if I had just waited it would have been
5 minutes, since I followed directions posted by Norton while they were
still on the upward slope of their learning curve. By late evening they had
posted an automatic fix that took care of everything - before then, while
the damage was far from "fatal" (how our vocabulary gets warped by online
jargon), it was a royal mess. At dinner I announced to my family, excuse my
language group, but people who do this sort of thing are real ass*. I think
Norton protects us better than the US government and I'm finally ready to
privatize. Norton for President.
