Perhaps I'm just more reckless than you are, but I've used free fonts before with no ill effects. I make sure to virus-scan them first. My thinking has been that the worst thing that can happen is that I get a crummy font. If there are dangers in doing this that I'm not aware of, I'd like to hear about them.

The other day I came across a whole bunch of sites with free fonts one could download. I'm leery of downloading things from sites I'm not familiar with, but I wondered whether anyone might be able to recommend a site with downloadable fonts which you know to be reliable (i.e. no virus or other havoc-wrecking content). I do a lot of fliers and announcements, and sometimes special fonts are just the ticket.
