I am mostly just cautious because I know that there are malicious websites.
I have no idea how they work, or exactly what they can do. But it seems to
me that the lure of free stuff would be a good way to get people to come to
your nasty site. SOOO - knowing that I am fairly na�ve about what is or
isn't a good idea to download, I mostly don't if it's a site I'm not
familiar with. So I doubt there is anything in particular you need to know
that you don't already! And if you've had good luck doing it, then I'll
think about giving some of them a try.

Perhaps I'm just more reckless than you are, but I've used free fonts
before with no ill effects.  I make sure to virus-scan them first.  My
thinking has been that the worst thing that can happen is that I get a
crummy font.  If there are dangers in doing this that I'm  not aware of,
I'd like to hear about them.
