Hi Ian, since it doesn't make sense to discuss something without the VPRI people I would like to direct this question to you. Anyone not part of VPRI, please don't reply, but wait for Ian to make an official statement.
This is needed to evaluate suggestions/discussions in terms of this project's official goals. It should help kill flame wars and keep contributions focused. What are the goals for the programming language you are creating? As far as I understand the goals for the language are: * increased productivity (20K lines of code) * more correct code (?by using better concepts and automatic checking?) * ?better performance than Smalltalk? What about goals that give this language an identity: ? easy to learn ? minimalistic syntax ? very readable code ? free of unnecessary complexity ? easy and natural to think in ? attract many mainstream programmers If you say "yes" to most of them could you (and the other VPRI members) please order them by priority?
