Can the mailing list archive be made public so we can link to posts

I think the main reason this has not yet been done is to avoid spam
harvesters. I didn't see any obvious way to configure Mailman to hide
addresses (I looked in the Mailman FAQ). Do any of you out there know
how to do so?
There is in "Privacy options" this option:
obscure_addresses (privacy): Show member addresses so they're not
directly recognizable as email addresses?
Setting this option causes member email addresses to be transformed
when they are presented on list web pages
(both in text and as links), so they're not trivially recognizable as
email addresses. The intention is to prevent the
addresses from being snarfed up by automated web scanners for use by
spammers.
In the archive, the adress then is rendered as a mailto with "denker
at iam.unibe.ch" as text, but the email
adress in the mailto: tag is the list adress.
