There are two questions to consider:
(i) is your encoding no larger than 256 glyphs?
(ii) are all the glyphs you wish to include in Unicode?
If both (i) and (ii) are true, then it will be easy to use either Type
1 or TT. If (i) is false, you should use TT. If (ii) is false, you
may either use Type 1 or else, if you use TT, either use the PUA or
use a symbol encoding.
I personally prefer Type 1, as I find it easier to manipulate, but we
do support both, and I will be glad to help you make your fonts usable
with XFree86 whichever format you chose.
