I have talked to Beth Mardutho: The Syriac Institute
(www.bethmardutho.org) and they would like to contribute one of their
Syriac fonts to the XFree86 Project. In return for this, they only ask
that an acknowledgement be made. They have already allowed Microsoft to
distribute one of their fonts with Windows 2000 and XP.

How can we go about making this contribution?

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
----------------------
Paul Nelson, George Kiraz and Sargon Hasso put forward a proposal to add
Syriac to The Unicode Standard. This was a prerequisite to have Syriac
support in Windows 2000 Professionalâ„¢. The Proposal was accepted in 1998
by the Unicode Consortium, and in 2000 by the International Standard
Organizing. Syriac became part of Unicode 3.0 in 2000.

Since that time, the Institute has created over a dozen Syriac OpenType
fonts for use in Windows 2000/XP. These fonts can be downloaded from
their website.
