PK does run-length encoding, right? Then it should be linear as the
point-size goes towards infinity (i.e. after the effects of MF's
optical scaling are no longer visible). If not, there's something
weird going on.
For simply scaled fonts (with no optical scaling), run-length encoding
should be linear on the whole range with some minor artifacts around
the origin.
