Who maintains xc/extras/fonts?  I'd like to recommend one other
Unicode font, a BDF that includes glyphs for a large subset of CJK and
comes in a complete set of bold/italic variants at 10, 12, 14, 16, and
24 point sizes.

the supported Unicode ranges.

I'm sure they'd be happy to allow XFree86 to include and distribute
their work, since the people involved seem interested in open source.
