It is there to support an AFAICT unused feature in the foproperties.xml file which makes it possible to specify special property makers for each fo:element. Take a look at the comment for 'generic-property-list' in src/codegen/properties.dtd where the feature is described. I did not port the codegeneration of this feature to int indexes, so it still uses a HashMap in my patch. regards, finn
