João André Gonçalves commented on FOP-3164:
-------------------------------------------

The problem lies with the setParentArea method in BasicLinkArea. This method
will make sure that the basic link area covers any children of the BasicLink,
and basically "covers" the footnote internal reference.

> Footnote anchor within fo:basic-link not navigating to corresponding footnote

> When a footnote anchor is placed within the {{<fo:basic-link>}} element, the
> expected behavior of navigating to the corresponding footnote upon clicking
> is not observed. Instead, the click action directs the user to follow the
> link associated with the {{<fo:basic-link>}} element, rather than
> transitioning to the targeted footnote.
> *Actual Behavior:*
> Clicking on the footnote anchor redirects users to follow the link associated
> with <fo:basic-link>.
> *Expected Behavior:*
> Clicking on the footnote anchor transitions users to the corresponding
> footnote.
