hi there,
I just wanted to mention that I've been astonished how productive one can be when using XSL:FO, and still being proud on using a standardized method for generating PDFs...
I've used PdfLib earlier and have assembled the PDFs for myself, but when it comes to tables and more advanced nested layouts, XSL:FO is a great thing. I think with PdbLib you'd need at least 2-3 days to create a professional quality layout, with XSL:FO I was able to create one within 5 hours from scratch without any XSL:FO knowledge ...
The only thing I'm missing right away is that the samples are pretty simple and don't show the advanced print layout possiblities of XSL:FO. I'd love to have samples for generating table of contents, indexes or e.g. newspaper layouts with lots of tables and svg embedded ...
So I think it would be a good idea to open up a new "samples" section, which shows what is possible with XSL:FO and moving the current examples to a separate "tests" branch, because they are more like tests of XSL:FO functionality.
Wouldn't it be good to show what XSL:FO can do in comparison to MS Publisher or Quark XPress if you look at it from a programming perspective (i.e. rather code using XSL:FO than use drag & drop and the mouse to create layouts)?
pls continue the efforts...
