1. Can footnotes be set under the column in which they appear instead of page widt footnotes?
No. The footnote area spans the full body width by specification.
2. Problem: My footnotes always run over the body text when using 2 column mode. 1 column mode everything works great. I have also tried my XML and XSL file with Renderx's xep and it works ok their, so I wonder if it's something I am doing or a bug in Fop?
This is a known bug.
