I'm running fedora core 5. I installed X.Org X11 libX11 runtime library but still can't get it to work...

I dont know what OS are you using nor the version of X, but I have a FreeBSD headless server and there I have installed: xorg-libraries-7.2_2 X.org libraries meta-port that is a meta-port, which installs a number of X libraries. you should look in your OS software package system for something similar.
