Hi Pascal, Thanks for your answer. I don't quite understand what you are getting at, since the static region in the body would still overlap the footer, but you gave me another, actually quite obvious, idea: It works if I restrict the sequence to one page, extend the footer over the whole page and add the image to the footer (or both footers, left and right), before the actual footer content.

So, yu can easily redifine the size (and position) of your background image. The unique limitation is that you cannot use a repeatable pattern.
