I don't know for sure if the Trunk has done anything to fix the problem
with finding renderers.  I forget if or where I might have heard that
and don't have time to check right now.  If you really need images other
than SVG to work I would start by testing the Trunk.

In addition to issues with image formats, I couldn't decide what form to
use for the path to an image file for an external src= tag.  We found a
program somewhere that was able to convert our image to text in the form
of <svg:path fill= statements so I just put it directly in the xsl file
since we're only referencing one image for now.

I have not seen this indication anywhere. Can you point me to that info?
If this is the case then I will build the trunk and go. Can you
elaborate a little on the "workaround"?
