I'd like us to go through all our current groups and for each
group choose from:
o KEEP using the current name
o Keep with a different name (RENAME)
o Keep as CML
o Keep only as METADATA that drives building TroveSets for other groups
o DELETE group entirely
Here are our groups. I have tried to provide some initial suggestions
as a straw man. Tell me why I'm wrong.
We'll need docs for everything we keep...
- - -
group-base
group-core
KEEP group-base, delete group-core, but make group-base
represent the minimal reasonable system to deploy. Core
Unix/POSIX tools, system configuration. This includes
partitioning and various filesystem utilities, core
functionality like iptables and iscsi configuration,
conary itself, but no X, no development, no documentation
(that's what google is for!). Current group-core is the
closest match, but should be trimmed.
group-bootable
CML (proper subset of base). This should be the literal
minimum that you should expect to boot. Erase something
from this set and the system does not boot. Note that
this does not include conary itself!
