Hi! How secure is Gnome 2?
We've reached a point where hardly a day goes by without a piece of news about some vulnerability in some software, and attackers finding a way to exploit that vulnerablity. I've mostly been concerned with updating my browser and flash, keeping an eye on Java and so on, but how big is the attack surface of the desktop environment? Are there still security patches for Gnome 2 or is it "dead" - and if so, am I at risk because I'm using Gnome 2 instead of a newer and supported DE?
