Pretty redundant.  Instead of doing this, it might be wise to just have
those who want to help subscribe to RSS.  You can setup a live bookmark and
just check it when you open your browser.

Having an entirely separate mailing list is like having the department of
redundancy department...it doesn't make sense and duplicates and adds more
overhead to managing yet another list.

As for the email bridge...I know of NO plugins for SMF that would do that
and I've been using it since the very first days of SMF.
