When searching for the next occurrence of the currently selected word PSPad will "find" the current selection if the cursor is at the beginning of the selection (e.g. select from right to left). The current selection will be "found" if the cursor is at the end/right of the selection when searching backward. The search function should start at the ends of the current selection when searching rather than the caret position. (The exception to this rule would obviously be if the scope of the search is "selected text".)
