Also, a bit of friendly advice ;-) I'll be the first to sing PSPad's praises - I've contributed and I use it all the time. But, as a Solaris admin I also spend a lot of time on Unix.
However, rather than trying to rig an emulated environment on another platform, invest a little time to learn the strengths and weaknesses of native Unix editors (vi[m], EMACS, etc., etc.). I think the average *nix newcomer might be surprised. Plus, once you gain at least a functional competence on one or more of the native (i.e., "always available") editors, you'll never find yourself stranded on a system without <your_favorite_editor_and_OS_emulator> installed. Despite initial impressions, I suspect a vi-like editor might be an overall easier learn than EMACS, but there are also some very Windows-like editors available (Kate, NEdit, CRiSP, GEdit, etc.). Get up to speed, and when Jan is finally able to compile PSPad using Kylix v47.01, you'll be able to switch back without having lost any work in the process. :-) -- Len Philpot <>< <http://forum.pspad.com/read.php?2,36775,36796> PSPad freeware editor http://www.pspad.com
