Clearing the history on the Files and Dirs page fixed the problem! This is really a horrible bug. I was in the process of re-installing older and older versions of PSPad to try and find one that worked.
Thanks very much! I hope the PSPad developer reads this forum and fixes the problem. I can think of no good reason to access remote shares on the MRU list every time the program closes.
