That's interesting because in German there is a very similar proverb (again, bad translation): *Talk is silver, silence is gold.* ("Reden ist Silber, Schweigen ist Gold.") This is meant to convey that sometimes talking *can* be helpful, but more often it is bound to lead into some sort of trouble.
