Tom, I didn't know that asking why someone thinks they need a feature, especially a feature that is not widely used (or perhaps not even widely implemented any more) is such a problem. Do you think this is none of my business because I don't work for one of the T13 members? Or because I am not currently a T13 member? I seems to me that after asking those questions and after a bunch of email exchanges we all have a better understanding of the issues (and perhaps a better understanding of the technology in modern disk drives). We even learned of a novel use of R/W LONG by at least one RAID manufacturer. I'm sorry but I don't see the problem here. I guess if you don't like my messages or the questions I ask you could ask T13 to remove me from the T13 email list (I will not attempt to rejoin if you are successful). Or you can probably configure your email program to just delete any email from me.
