> > Master ... Slave ... California ... > > ... aren't ... a slave to your emotions ... :o/ Did I miss the specific suggestion of specific, newly conventional, substitute jargon to mean Master and Slave? Pat LaVarre http://members.aol.com/ppaatt/essay/why/ P.S. I ask because I'd like to see the t13 hex reality of ID 0 or 1 have only finitely many different English translations. For example, to communicate with normal people rather than geeks, already people selling into the mass market change only connotation not denotation and say "inflate" rather than "explode" a compressed folder. And they say "forbidden" rather than "illegal". Etc. What now can we say rather than "Master and Slave"? Surely the raid/ web folk have by now developed some alternate jargon for this kind of thing? "Mirror" isn't quite right. Since when young I received first class training in political correctness as an employee of IBM, if/when I bothered to think, I knew already to substitute ID 0 and ID 1 for Master and Slave when Speaking For The Company, even when speaking with geeks who purportedly hold the technical writing value of choosing one word to mean one thing and reusing that word forever. But I haven't yet hit on an alternate jargon for Master and Slave that works with the kind of normal people that can't reliably distinguish 0 from 1, nor reliably distinguish not not from not, nor perceive that 1 is no closer to 1.073741824 than 14 is to 15.032385536 in terms of proportion. http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/binary.html
