All,

We were going to address this stuff (or at least some of it) as part of
the PARTIES-2 document. There were issues raised a year and 1/2 ago about
48 bit mode and how certain devices indicated 48 bit supported and enabled
(words 83 and 86 bit 10) even though they were less than 137GB and which
commands should be used and what the contents of word 100-103 should be,
etc. etc. I know document e03107r0 (section 3.1) indicates it was planning
on addressing this, but I dont find any follow up on this document. The
project was approved by INCITS (minutes of Aug 2003 meeting - e03133r0
section 7.5) but in Dec 2003 minutes Dan Colgroves says he was unclear if it
was approved. I cant find any new documents regardless. Is this still going
forward? Since the SATA stuff has taken over there is very little chatter
on this reflector anyway and I am really out of touch these days.
