This message is from the T13 list server.
A good way to do this consolidation is to define a unique set of information the first time it occurs in the document, then just put "For a definition of [whatever] see [first time clause]."
Double links can be helpful, in case the info now recorded only in that first place ever changes out of sync with all the places that reference it.
